ABOUT SIAYA COMMUNITY LIBRARY

The library is located within Siaya County headquarter town, in a strategic position within the compound of cultural development center. Siaya library provides excellent studying environment for users.

The Siaya Community Library (SCL) is a project of Integrated Development Africa Program (IDAP). The Library was initiated by American Friends of Kenya Inc., a USA based organization that build Kenyan leadership in education and library development. In July 2012 AFK donated and shipped in a container of books, library shelving and supplies from US. The donation from AFK had already given birth to Siaya Community Library which has slowly developed as a strong facility in Siaya County, its the first in the District and one of its kind.

1. Support and enrich the educational curriculum in Siaya County
2. Select, acquire, organize, and provide resources, in all formats, that meet the needs of a diverse community
3. Provide library information to help students develop critical thinking skills and become independent life-long learners

Siaya Community Library is facing several challenges in terms of funding for human resources, recurrent expenditures, syllabus books, colleges and higher institution books, shelves, furniture, computers, stationery among others, consequently any form of support from organizations, philanthropists and other willing partners are welcome.
